Music forms an integral part of Insanity's output. One of the conditions of our FM licence is that we broadcast new and alternative music. We try and play a great deal of pre-release tracks and music from up and coming bands. We don't always get it right but so far we've been fairly successful.

A certain amount of shows are "playlisted" that is they have to play certain tracks from the lists of songs we make. As well as letting the listeners hear new music the playlist gives the station an overall "sound".

The playlists are chosen by committee and any member of the radio station can take part. Details of their location will be posted here.

The current Head of Music, Ambrose Heron, also has to produce the Insanity chart. The chart gets forwarded to the Student Radio Association, College Music Update (CMU), the Student Broadcast Network (SBN) as well as all the record companies and pluggers who send us new material.
